2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets more efficient engines

The 2011 Mercedes E-Class proposes a better fuel efficiency both for petrol and diesel engines, thanks to a revised automatic transmission 7G-TRONIC PLUS and the ECO start/stop system as standard now on all 4 cylinders, reduces fuel consumption up to 20%.

Petrol’s engines range can now rely on BlueDIRECT (direct injection) for E350 V6 BlueEFFICIENCY and E500 V8 BlueEFFICIENCY , while 4-cylinder gets the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission with steering wheel controls and start/stop system. The latter features now a new torque converter, a new ECO mode for the gear shifting and a new oil pump. This technology will be standard on versions BluEFFICIENCY E250, E350, E500, E200 CDI, E220 CDI and E250 CDI. The E-Class model year 2011 have undergone a slight change to the dashboard, the instrument panel features now a color TFT screen with new functions.

The E350 V6 3.5-liter gets now 306 hp with average fuel consumption of 6.8 l/100 km while CO2 emissions are 159-164 g/km, needs 6.3 seconds on the 0-100 km/h and the top speed is 250 km/h. The E500 V8 instead adopt the V8 4.7-liter twin-turbo already seen on other models, gets 408 hp and 600 Nm of torque: consumption declared of 8.9 l/100 km and the 0-100 km/h is got in 5.2 seconds, top speed is 250 km/h.

The natural gas version E 200 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY, which debuted at the Bologna Motor Show last year, keeps still the 8.1 l/100 km in a combined fuel consumption of petrol mode, while driving with natural gas gets 5.5 kg/100 km.
