2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 is to take home

Chrysler has just announced, at the auto show in New York (April 22-May 1), the sports version 300 SRT8. According to optimistic declarations by the automaker, the SRT8 offers the best in luxury and sportiness among current sedans of market.

ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE: the main new feature of this sedan is the new 6.4-liter Hemi V8 combined with a 5-speed automatic transmission controlled by paddles behind the steering wheel. According to Chrysler, the 300 SRT8 reach 280 km/h and takes less than 5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, as if it were not enough also promises fuel efficiency of 25% less than previous 6.1-liter V8 with a 40 horsepower less. What’s the reason of this brilliant result? The credit is due to the new exhaust system called Fuel Saver mode and the use of four-cylinder mode with a wider speed range. Chrysler engineers have reviewed the balance, lowered by 3.8 cm, and stiffened the Adaptive Damping Suspension to keep under control the power of the Chrysler 300 SRT8 . In addition, the hydraulic power steering has been optimized for greater sensitivity, while the Brembo braking system is more powerful thanks to special pipes to cooling discs.

DESIGN: the SRT8 stands for aerodynamic changes and the Black Chrome Package, which includes new front grilles. The interior offers total leather upholstery, lower-cut sports steering wheel with paddles, carbon fiber trim, sports pedals and 8.4-inch screen with new functions to measure the car performance, dynamic and lateral acceleration, pressures and temperatures in digital format. The rear features a dedicated badge and new sports tailpipes.
