2012 Mercedes ML promises improved luxury and advanced safety

The new M-Class, the big SUV from Mercedes-Benz is a very important model for the economic balance of the German firm, given the optimistic outlook of the market for the Sport Utility Vehicle segment. The Mercedes M-Class offers more space, is impressive and well finished of the previous generation, but ironically, features the small four-cylinder diesel engine, providing excellent performance in terms of consumption: 17 km/l. The third generation SUV of the German carmaker,  provides a stylistic evolution that keeps alive the legacy with the past from which doesn’t want to break easily.

DESIGN: this SUV features the platform of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee: 4.80 meters long, 1.92 wide and 1.79 in height. The M-Class front part recalls the CLS but has also distinctive details as the LED daytime running lights, while the side shows new projecting lines that does not result in a deep facelift. A more heavy change is at the rear, with new headlights with larger horizontal shaped, matching very well with the more inclined rear window and that makes less impressive the German SUV appearance. The interior of the car of the four stars is very refined and luxurious, according to the S-Class style. Standard optional available on the new Mercedes ML features alloy wheels from 17″ to 20  ” (21 for AMG), and various driver assistance systems such as the Night View Assist Plus, Lane Keeping Assist, Speed ​​Limit Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Distronic Plus.

ENGINES: According to Mercedes, 2012 Mercedes ML consumes the average of 25% less than the previous version. The credit for fuel efficiency is in part thanks the arrival of a new 4-cylinder, in addition to the already popular V6 and V8. At launch the engine range will have versions ML 250 Bluetec 2.1-Liter twin-turbo 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque, which starts from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, 224 km/h top speed and average fuel consumption of 17 km/l. The diesel ML 350 Bluetec 3.0 V6 delivers 258 hp and 619 Nm, 7.5 seconds on the 0-100 km/h and 235 km/h top speed. To end the only petrol engine is ML 350 BlueEFFICIENCY 3.5-liter V6 with 306 hp and 370 Nm, 100 km/h from zero are achieved in 7.7 seconds, while top speed is 235 km/h. All engines comes with the 7G-Tronic automatic transmission and the four-wheel drive 4MATIC.
