The Opel Ampera, waiting to get at European showrooms by summer 2012, has already been a great success with more than 5,000 pre-orders. The new Ampera opens a new segment in the European car market, thanks to its features that in spite an electric car, offers a great range and flexibility. Basically the new model is designed for environment friendly customers who want to drive a Green car but without sacrificing the comfort of a conventional car.
Thanks to 2 engines and the EREV system, the Opel Ampera is considered an extended-range electric car. The car also features a 150 hp electric motor powered by a battery pack by 16 kWh, and a thermal engine 1.4 L by 86 horsepower that operate when batteries fall below a minimum level of charge. The Opel Ampera can travel up to 80 km without producing CO2 emissions and up to 500 km in Extended Range mode. The German carmaker states excellent performance, as the Electric Ampera needed 9 seconds to start from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed of 161 km/h. At consumption level the Opel Ampera promises less than 1.6 liters per 100 kilometers in a combined cycle, while recharging the batteries can be conducted at a 230 V outlet and need 4 hours to fully charge.
New Opel Ampera, which offers up to 310 liters of spacing when back seats are folded, has a five-door body and a modern design. A major innovation regards the interior that miss traditional buttons, replaced by a touch screen. The standard trim features radio with steering wheel controls and electronic climate control, while optional are the sound system Bose Energy Efficiency Series and navigator. A small criticism is for engineers who designed the rear cabin, passengers who are more than 1.80 meters high, risk to beat her head against the car pillars. In conclusion we can say that the Opel Ampera is a car that uses latest technology for the environment and of course technology has a considerable cost: for the Opel Ampera need to spend about 42,800 Euros including 160km batteries guarantee or 8 years which covers the entire car.
