Under the bonnet the high-performance SUV shows the TT RS engine. It’s expected that the Audi Q3 RS Concept is setting for production in the next two years.
The RS Q3 is going to be labeled the world’s first high-performance compact SUV. This niche hasn’t yet launched a super-sporting variant even if with lots of topping-vehicle debuting such as the Range Rover Evoque.
On the outside the sports SUV is distinguished by an extreme RS styling package. The front end is the most the aggressive part of the new car. The big tri dimensional black honeycomb grille is complemented by an extra air intake, a redesigned front bumper with sculpted air inlets, slightly tinted headlights and a CFRP (carbonfibre-reinforced-plastics) spoiler. The Concept car feature also Matt black CFRP for the door mirrors, side sills plates and the now larger wheel-arch extremities which houses huge 20-inch wheels with 225/30 tyres. At the rear, there’s a new bumper which incorporates diffuser insert in addition of two huge tail-pipes. The Q3 RS Concept is colored in striking Ordos Blue a particular finishing that Audi describes as a matt blue with a delicate yellow tint.
Internally Audi has once more used blue touches. Sport seats, which comes with RS logos embossed into the head-rests, feature the mix of the primary blue tint with dark blue Alcantara contrast stitching of the Nappa leather.
Audi tuned the efficient and powerfurl 2.5-L five-cylinder engine of the Audi TT-RS and RS3. The result has been an increased 20bhp to 355bhp and 332lb ft of torque. In terms of performance, the extra horsepower mean a 5.2sec. time in the 0-62mph while top speed is claimed at the remarkable 163mph to confirm with no doubts the Audi Q3 RS Concept is currently the fastest compact SUV.
Both standard seven-speed dual S tronic twin-clutch transmission mated to a Quattro permanent all-wheel drive take care of the drive. A full electronic control distributing power, sports suspension and the 25mm body lowering complete the mechanical aspect.
