New Hyundai i40 Sedan announced at Barcelona Motor Show

Hyundai has released specifications and new images of the i40 hatchback, presented in these days at Barcelona and expected to be available in late 2011, just after the wagon version.

DESIGN: the Hyundai i40 sedan, designed and built at the Hyundai’s research and development center in Rüsselsheim (DE), is 4.74 meters long and 1.81 wide, an elegant car which, despite the generous size, recalls a coupe. The hatchback is based on the hexagonal grid and the fluid design featured by the just released wagon and which were inherited directly from the design of the ix-ONIC concept unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.

The i40 sedan promises excellent comfort and a very rich standard equipment, including the Lane-Keeping Assist System, Smart-parking assist, and Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition and navigation system with integrated camera and rear parking. The i40 features ventilated front seats, reclining and heated rear seats, electric parking brake and automatic heated steering wheel. Regarding passive safety, all i40 distributed in Europe comes with nine airbags: front, rear, curtain and one protecting the driver’s knees.

ENGINE: four engines, two petrol (1.6 and 2.0) and two diesel (both 1.7), with power ranging between 115 and 177 hp. The new petrol 2.0 from 177 hp and 213Nm of torque gets the 0-100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and a states combined fuel consumption of 6.8 l/100 km (159 g/km CO2). All the i40 Blue Drive, equipped with standard automatic start & stop ISG (Integrated Stop & Go) and low rolling resystance tyres debut in late 2011 while the 1.7 CRDi Blue Drive (115 hp) consumes 4.3 liters per 100 kilometers.
