Alfa Romeo 4C Concept with productive future

Alfa Romeo 4C Concept was the most awaited car of the Geneva Motor Show, a  2-seater coupé prototype with a particular red tint and rear-wheel drive with central engine that makes Alfa’s lovers dreaming and hoping that the 4C concept become a production car. The car maker from Arese, however, has already announced that the concept will have a productive future in the course of 2012 and that will strengthen the overall growth plan for Alfa Romeo and hopefully with a design not so different from today prototype.

LIGHT MATERIAL: Alfa Romeo 4C Concept – about four meters long and less than 2.4 meters of wheelbase  – uses technical solutions and materials inherited from the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione including carbon, aluminum, rear wheel drive and other components derived from Alfa Romeo models in production, such as the petrol engine 1750 turbo direct injection with dual clutch Alfa TCT.

DESIGN: The Concept 4C recalls for some detail the 8C Competizione, but differ by its revised front and some straight lines on a more angular shapes, such as the front air intakes and headlights. The rear air intakes for the engine are inside the doors, windshield seem to joins the windows thanks to the b-pillars no black tinted and the low roof creates a surface almost the same with the bonnet and rear window recalling the Lotus Elise and Exige.

PERFORMANCE: The engine of the Alfa Romeo 4C Concept is the same of the Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde and combined with the automatic transmission Alfa TCT with double dry clutch, already used on the Alfa MiTo, and soon on Giulietta. According to preliminary data released by the Italian brand, the Concept 4C has a top speed of 250 km/h with the 0-100 km/h in under 5 seconds. The lighter weight of the 4C Concept – thanks to carbon and aluminum – should be below the 860 kg, and with a weight/power ratio under 4 kg/hp.
