The Aston Martin V12 Zagato, a collaboration work between the English carmaker and the famous Italian designer, has been unveiled at the Concours d’Elegance of Villa d’Este (Como, Italy) 21-22 May and won the Design Award for Concept Cars & Prototypes.
The car was shown as racing version with roll-bars and upgraded brakes, front and rear suspension with double bar and adjustable dampers.
The Aston Martin V12 Zagato is a concept created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the DB4 GT and represents the fusion of style between the two brands. The design Director of the British House, Marek Reichman said, “the prototype has a sleek and brutal ahestetic, which reflects the great balance between performance in the race and the pure Aston Martin style.” The Aston Martin V12 Zagato built on a V12 Vantage, has already participated in the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nurburgring (28 May) and will be part of the 24 Hours of Nurburgring in June.
The British team and the italian coachbuilder took several hours of craftsmanship to create the body shapes of the prototype V12 Zagato to be different from the V12 Vantage. Suffice it to say that the car’s front wheel arches are made of 7 sheets of aluminum together and molded to obtain the desired shape. The unique style stands out in the Zagato double bubble roof escaping in the tail, the lights and the big air extractors on the front wheel arches.
Under the bonnet of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato is the 6.0-liter, 510 hp and 570 Nm of torque. The tank fuel can get 120 liters and almost certainly there will be a limited production car, but up now there are no other technical details and performance data.
