The Audi S8 sports-flavored variant of Audi’s flagship A8 sedan that German firm has presented at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show last September, will hit European dealerships in the summer of next year with pricing around € 113,000. It is a monumental four-door model and it is supposed to be a lot more appealing without compromising, being a large car that will not be rushed through corners.
The Audi S8 is fitted with the direct-injection V8 TFSI twin-scroll turbochargers 4.0-litre engine with 520 hp (444 hp delivered by the old naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10) and “cylinder-on-demand technology”, which claims to provide better fuel economy as 23 percent of previous power-unit through the temporary deactivation of four cylinders. According to Audi, the 4.0-liter in the S8 generates generates an impressive 649 Nm of torque between 1,750 and 5,000 rpm, significantly more than the upcoming S6 and S7 saloons, because both versions will use the same V8. This results comes thanks to a dual-branch air intake, a higher compression ratio, an extra oil cooler, more turbo pressure and improvements to the valve timing, fuel injectors and crankshaft.
Standard equipment in the Audi S8 includes adaptive sports suspension, Quattro all-wheel-drive, a torque-vectoring rear differential, alloy wheels 20-inch, LED headlights, leather interior with sport front seats comfort, the MMI navigation system with touch, dynamic steering and sports multifunction steering wheel. Audi’s Drive Select system can be determined to comfort, auto, or dynamic mode, or an individual function that allows for independent adjustment of the steering work, shift calibration and throttle response.
