BMW ActiveE is the all-electric concept car that the Bavarian automaker will present in world premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show 2011. The project, started in 2009 as BMW Concept ActiveE, is a evolution’s development of the bavarian R&D departments with the aim of combining the comfort range of a typical BMW with zero emissions propulsion. Although the word “Concept” is inherent in its name, the car will be produced in 1,000 units that will be used as test in Europe, USA and China, in order to evaluate their daily use, for future production of new green vehicles scheduled for 2013.
BMW AtiveE provides room for four people and a luggage load of 200 liters, thanks to three blocks disposal of batteries instead of the base of the conventional engine, transmission and fuel tank.
TECHNOLOGY: the electronic handles the various driving phases of the vehicle: the “Eco Pro” cares to increase autonomy at all costs, while in “Eco Pro” is allowed a bit more in terms of comfort and performance managing the air conditioner and the utility in order to avoid too much consumption. The BMW ActiveE can be recharged at an 32 amps outlet in 5 hours, rising to 8 hours by connecting to a conventional one.
The electric motor 168 hp and 250 Nm, pushes the ActiveE on the 0-100 km/h in 9 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 90 miles per hour (about 140 km/h).
