Hyundai Curb has just been presented at the Detroit Motor Show (Naias) which is still ongoing and until 23 January. The car is a concept that anticipates the prototype of the future South Korean brand’s sporty crossover and should compete in Europe, with the Juke Nissan, Fiat Sedici and Toyota Urban Cruiser. The idea is to create an “Urban Activity Vehicle,” similar to the compact Nissan Juke, modern, advanced in the multimedia and suitable for free time and even outside the city.
MODERN DESIGN: HCD-12 is the code that comes from the twelfth work of designers from Hyundai’s California design center. The Curb concept is 4.17 meters long with four doors, technicians have had a particular focus on the new hexagonal grille where are inserted the slim LED headlights and on the unusual sloping windshield which almost “merges” with the bonnet.
The interior impresses with many futuristic ideas that will find difficult to follow in the future standard version: the great colored dashboard envelops the driver and passenger and provides many electronic aids that allow the network connection, satellite navigation, the air conditioning adjustment and hi-fi system. Via Hyundai Blue Link Technology is also possible to diagnose technical and mechanics problems of the car, sending the results directly to the dealership via the Internet. In addition, the car will alert the owner in case of theft and attempt to communicate its position in the case had been taken away.
Hyundai Curb concept has great 22 ” wheels, panoramic roof and cameras instead of rear mirrors. Under the front hood is a hidden four-cylinder 1.6 GDI turbo 177 hp and 229 Nm, which combined with the dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission and start/stop system can provide the average fuel consumption of 7.8 l/100 km in town and 5.8 l/100 km on highway.
