Hyundai Eon unveiled to compete in the Indian auto market

Hyundai Eon one more citycar for the Indian Market.

Hyundai has officially revealed the Eon, a five-door supermini that will be reserved – up now – to Indian drivers and built to challenge the most popular Indian cars Tata Nano and Maruti Suzuki Alto. The new citycar promises a lot of high end features and increased room as compared to competitors. The Korean car manufacturer will offers a group of six variants for its latest Eon, in order boosting its sales and satisfy the customers by offering them ample options to select from. India’s A-segment market, with the launch of Hyundai’s most low-cost car is expected to experience an rise, either in terms of sales along with competition.

To begin with, the citycar is 3,5 meters long, similar to the Suzuki competitor’s car but is also 70mm wider and 40mm higher. The Eon has been developed on a new platform specifically engineered by the Indian division of Hyundai and is equipped with a newborn three-cylinder 0,8-Liters that delivers 56 hp and 75 Nm of maxinum torque, all this combined to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Fuel economy, as claims the Korean car maker and as certified by Automotive Research Association of India, is at 4,7 l/100 km. The six Hyundai Eon variants are named D-LITE (the base model), D-LITE (O), ERA, MAGNA, MAGNA (O) and SPORTZ (the top model) which displays several trendy features such as metallic finish steering wheel, silver inserts in the dashboard, front passenger’s air bag, USB with stereo and fog lamps.

Further details should come out soon with the launch of the supermini expected for the second week of October 2011. The prices for Hyundai Eon will start between Rs 2.5 to 2.6 lakh for India which are about € 2,000 and € 4,000.
