Mercedes-Benz GL 63 AMG is the 557hp performance SUV which can carry seven passengers up to 250Km/h or 155 mhp.
The Mercedes-Benz completes the GL-range with the new sports version GL 63 AMG which follows the technical solutions of the younger sister M-Class. This is the first time for a GL with an AMG engine and in particular the well known M157 twin turbo 5.5 litre V8.
The powerful SUV gives a power output of 557hp, and 760Nm of peak torque – from 2000-5000rpm – combined with the AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic automatic transmission. All that is enhanced with Airmatic suspension and electronically controlled by the AMG Ride Control with Active Curve System.
The said mechanic’s setup enables the GL 63 AMG to sprint from 0 to 100 Km/h or 62 mph in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h – 155 mph electronically limited. Those performance numbers are a lot, even in a big Mercedes SUV. Thank to a start-stop feature, the fuel economy is estimated at 22.9 mpg, on the combined cycle, producing a CO2 emissions of 287g/km. AMG’s folks also equipped the full-size SUV with huge brakes system. The brake’s disk are sized at 15.4″ x 1.4″ in the front and 13.6″ x 1″ in the rear.

Enhanced High-Tech engine’s improvements.
It is important to focus on a bit on the AMG M 157 eight-cylinder power unit, which as said it is familiar but this time exhibits some great innovations . First of all it features a revolutionary power package with the spray-guided direct petrol injection in the V8. Then Mercedes added a biturbo charging, piezo injectors, all-aluminium light-weight engine’s parts, air/water intercooling, a revised variable camshaft combined to 4 valve per cylinder.
According to the AMG Division, the new GL 63 AMG would offers a blend of comfort in the S-Class with the AMG performance and the functionality of a SUV.
Internally we admired the high-quality leather which covers the main armrest along with all seven seats. Included in the optional stylish Designo special package, the GL 63 Amg can have also the exclusive Designo leather.
The brand-new Mercedes-Benz GL 63 AMG is expected to go on sale in the UK next year and we feels that German carmaker will not disclose prices so far that date.
