New Audi Q3 the baby crossover

Audi has unveiled the new Q3 at the Shanghai Motor Show – which takes place just on these days (21-28 April) – it is a small SUV with a unique design like a coupe and is intended to compete with the BMW X1. The model is derived from the Audi Cross Coupé Quattro concept and debuted also in Shanghai in 2007.

DESIGN: the Audi Q3 is a fairly a compact sport utility, 4385 mm long, 1831 wide, 1608 high, with a wheelbase of 2,603 ​​mm and 0.32 of cx, then this model is shorter of the Q5, of BMW X1 and of the Volkswagen Tiguan which inherits the base (transverse engine, the electromechanical steering and 4-link rear suspension). Audi Q3 promises a weight less than 1,500 kg, a result achieved by using aluminum for hood and tailgate and special steel for the frame. The cockpit can be configured with five groups of colors: black , gray, beige and two brown shades. Upholstery is available with three versions and three type of leather. The luggage compartment ranges from 460 to 1,365 liters.

CAR TRIM: among security systems, Audi Q3 uses lane assist and side assist, adaptive cruise control and readout system of speed limits. Regarding comfort and entertain the Q3 offers the ultimate technologies: the Bose audio system with 14 speakers, Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation system with 3D high-definition screen with Google Map and then the  semi-automatic parking system. Available on request are panoramic top, 17 ” to 19″ wheels, a special lighting package and active bi-xenon headlights.

ENGINES: The Audi Q3 it is sold with two petrol engines 2.0 TFSI, respectively, 170 or 211 hp and  a diesel 2.0 TDI with 177 hp, while later comes the TDI 140 hp front wheel drive with manual six-speed transmission . All Q3 models adopts 4-wheel drive and six-speed manual transmission or the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch  – standard only for the most powerful – which eliminates some of friction and should contribute to a better fuel efficiency. The Audi Q3, as other Audi, adopts the drive select to adapt the vehicle behavior in 4 different modes: normal, comfort, sport and efficiency, changing simultaneously the engine response and setting of transmission, suspension and ESP.

FUEL CONSUMPTION AND PERFORMANCE: in terms of consumption, Audi says 5.2 liters per 100 kilometers for Q3 2.0 TDI 140 hp front wheel drive, while in terms of performance 230 km/h and 6.9 seconds on the 0-100 km/h for the petrol 2.0 170 hp and 211 hp.

The Audi SUV will debut in the German market in June with a prices starting at € 29,900.
