New Jeep Wrangler facelift

The Jeep Wrangler, celebrating the seventieth anniversary of the brand that is now part of the Fiat group, updates its design with a slight facelift. The Wrangler remains almost with the same character as always, in some ways a little uncomfortable, noisy, or simply crude, but it’s equally fascinating and outrageous when runs off the paved roads.

FIRST OF ALL INTERIOR CHANGES: The Jeep Wrangler has maintained its exterior look and the only noticeable difference is the hard top to match the rest of the body color, an optional available with version Sahara, while remain unchanged the Sunrider soft top and modular hard top Freedom. The exterior colors include Tan Sahara, Mango Tango, Bright White, Cherry and Deep Blue Cosmos. The most important changes concern the cockpit with a wider range of accessories and better soundproofing aim to create more comfort. The dashboard has been revised, softened with treated plastic surfaces while the rear windows are larger. The air conditioner automatically controls the temperature and the exterior mirrors are heated and electrically adjustable.

ENGINES AND TECHNICAL DETAILS: The new Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited comes with a range combined with a new common-rail turbo diesel engine 2.8 liter 200 hp and maximum torque of 410 Nm – manual transmission –  and 460 Nm – automatic – equipped with technology start & stop. This is a higher power of 13% compared to previous 2.8 engine, without falling within the limits of the Euro 5 legislation. Alternatively, it is available with the powerful petrol 3.8-liter 199 hp and 315 Nm of torque. New is also the 5-speed automatic transmission which through the Electronic Range Selector allows you to choose between fully automatic or sequential mode. Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited feature a two-wheel drive system, called Command-Trac (Sport and Sahara versions) and Rock-Trac (Rubicon). The Command-Trac 4×4 system can be used in 2WD mode, 4WD and 4WD with low gears, while the Rock-Trac offers electronic locking differentials front and rear Tru-Lock, for the most extreme off-road. All models includes the Brake Lock Differentials (BLD) ESC built an electronic device which distributes torque to the wheel axle engaged. Rubicon version comes also with Active Sway Bar System. Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control are standard optional on new Wrangler.

RANGE AND PRICES: New Jeep Wrangler range, for the European market, is divided roughly in versions Sport, Sahara and Rubicon, while the 3.8 petrol is only available as Rubicon. The off-road is available for sale at € 30,000 for Jeep Wrangler 2.8 CRD Sport, € 38,000 for Unlimited Rubicon with automatic transmission, both with 2.8 turbo diesel engine and V6 petrol.
