ONE DRIVING LICENCE FOR ALL DRIVERS IN EUROPE

This January 19th 2013 will see the launch of the new European Driving License, common to all Member States that will be available as a plastic credit card. This new personal document will replace all kinds of driving license, almost more than 100 between paper and plastic models, following standard European format and more advanced security features of the data.

The European Commission’s Directorate for transport stated “this is an important change that will enhance safety and protection on roads across European countries, also it will facilitate the exchange |of data among states administrations. Currently more than 300 million of drivers across the “old continent” are using different types of driving license from their respective country.

From the 19th of January 2013 all new drivers will receive the new plastic document with a photo and standard information identifiable and readable across the EU.
