Opel Astra GTC is all about pure emotion

The Opel Astra GTC, which will debut officially at 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show (15-25 September) is the coupe version of the Astra range, designed to emphasize the aggressive styling and sportiveness with the use of certain technical choices. Some of these are the exclusive front suspension HiPerStrut (High Performance Strut), derived from the Insignia OPC, that help to improve the driving wheel, to reduce reactions and offer a more responsive steering and driving precision.

The Astra GTC , compared to the five-door version, is lower of 15 mm and the size of the frame slightly big: wheelbase is 2.695 meters (+10 mm), the front track of 1584 mm (+ 40 mm) and rear track of 1588 mm (+ 30 mm). The increase of these sizes has allowed the use of bigger wheels as 17 ” to 20″. These data suggest that Opel Astra GTC will be very different from the standard version, which is already at the top of its segment for driving quality. Obviously this model will not fail to have the FlexRide shock system, electronically adjustable to three positions.

The engine range of the GTC will have 3 versions of petrol and one diesel, but probably other engines will be announced in Frankfurt, while is expected to see the most powerful GTC of range, but we will have to wait until 2012. At launch the only diesel engine will be the 2.0-liter CDTI 165 hp and 380 Nm of torque, combined with 6-speed manual transmission and the Start/Stop system that makes consumption down to 4.9 l/100 km and 129 g/km of CO2, while top speed is 210 km/h with the starting from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The range includes two petrol engines 1.4 Turbo 120 and 140 hp, both with Start/Stop and in this case, consumption goes up to  5.9 l/100 km and 139 g/km CO2. The top version up now, the 1.6-liter Turbo by 180 hp, thanks to which the Astra GTC, according to Opel, gets 220 km/h.
