Peugeot SXC crossover hybrid concept unveiled at Shangai

Peugeot introduced, at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show, the concept car SXC –  Shanghai Cross Concept acronym –  with which the French company attempts to reinterpret the new crossover segment which arouse more and more interest among the Chinese public.

DESIGN: Peugeot SXC stands for some of common Sport Utility Vehicle characteristics as the high driving position, the large size and passengers safety, but clearly inspired by the most modern and smart sedan styles. The result of this stylistic mixture of elements is a prototype with flowing and soft lines but at the same time shows its size: 4.87 meters long, 2.035 wide and 1.61 high with generous 21-inch alloy wheels. The front of this SXC Concept Car comes with a grille that wants to appear as being suspended on the chassis, the headlamps, which resemble the cat eyes, are equipped with LED lights for both day and night, while the rear lights have a boomerang shape. The interior has easy access thanks to the reverse-hinged doors and made even more comfortable with a large two parts panoramic top.

HYBRID SYSTEM: The French prototype uses a hybrid system composed of 1.6 four-cylinder engine with 220 hp and an electric motor positioned in the rear, both delivers a total of 315 hp. The Peugeot SXC gets on average 20.7 km/l and 143 g/km emissions when using four wheel drive – optional extra – and electric motor driving the rear wheels.
