PSA Group has released the first official pictures and information of the Peugeot 4008, a SUV that together with the Citroen C4 Aircross, is based on the Mitsubishi ASX after a collaboration between the French company and the Japanese counterpart. Expected to be presented to the public at the next year Geneva Auto Show (8-18 March), the Peugeot 4008 is a compact crossover and will arrive in dealerships in the second quarter of 2012. In Europe, the market share of the SUVs in segments C and D is ever-increasing to the detriment of the Multi Purpose Vehicles of the E segment. This mainly because in Europe, it satisfy the distinctive compact crossover and with an environmental result comparable to that of a conventional sedan.

The diesel 1,6-L HDI boost 112 hp and 270 Nm of torque (280 if overboost), while a 1.8-L delivers 150 hp and 300 Nm, both power units are combined with 6-speed manual transmission. All the powerplant units will benefit the all-wheel drive, with the option to select three driving modes: two-wheel-drive, four-wheel-drive or lock the differential with these last two splitting electronically the torque between the two axles.
