Toyota unveils Scion FR-S Concept based on the FT-86 II

During the Auto show in New York (April 22-May 1) Scion – a Toyota Group brand reserved for North America – has unveiled the FR-S Concept, which interprets the Toyota FT-86 II, the rear-drive coupe developed with Subaru.

The new coupe prototype, a result of the aforementioned cooperation with Subaru, shows the revised front bumper and devoid of LED daytime running lights, different side vents, there are no door handles and even tailpipes and back spoiler but a rather conspicuous air extractor. the external mirrors design changes in favor of a very sharp one and the 20 ” alloy wheels, thanks also to the limited slip differential offer high footprint and grip.

The FR-S Concept, 4.27 meters long, 1.82 wide and just 1.20 high, should have the production version in 2012, according to the format ” front longitudinal engine and rear wheel drive ” and in keeping the acronym FR-S : Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport. Under this concept hides a petrol 2.0-liter boxer direct-injection  combined with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
