Unveiled new Ford Escape anticipates the European Kuga

Ford Escape gets inspired from the Vertrek concept.

Ford has launched the brand new 2013 Ford Escape (Kuga for Europe and China) that had its world-premiere debut at Los Angeles Auto Show this month. The 2012 Escape draws most of its design from the Vertrek concept, unveiled at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Based on the car maker, the newest Escape offers several options that are not offered on other compact SUVs, one of them is the hands-free power liftgate.

As said this compact SUV takes a lot from the Vertrek concept, or being more precise this is its production version. The Ford Escape is 4.52 m long, 184 cm wide (208 including mirrors) and 168 cm high, 20 cm from the ground and with the wheelbase of 269 cm. The new car has aerodynamic styling with a sloping roof-line, a prominent grille and a spoiler to the tailgate. It’s important to mention the active front grille, whose active blades, opens to allow air flowing only when needed then closes to improving the drag coefficient. But that’s not all, in fact features shows a big hood and 17 ” alloy wheels. What’s happening inside? The cockpit is really improved with quality materials, while the trunk can manage 971 liters of luggage which reach to 1,927 liters when the rear seats are folded.

The Europe’s version, Ford Kuga will be introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March. It shares with the American Escape the 1.6 and 2.0-liter EcoBoost. The wide others power-units are the diesel 1.6 and 2.0 liter engines available also in the Ford Focus, combined with front-wheel drive or F-W-D.
