The Beetle comes back again. The Volkswagen Bug, after the long development process, changes its face to come back to origins and the distinctive style of the old car designed by Ferdinand Porsche in 1938. The new VW Beetle has been introduced simultaneously to the three continents and officially unveiled at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show held on these days. Having forgotten without regret the unfortunate New Beetle of the end 90s, who was expecting a faithful reproduction of the old Beetle will be disappointed, but the new Beetle was conceived as an evolution of that model which became an icon and not as nostalgic creation. The Volkswagen’s Beetle goal is to convince on all markets: in Europe is expected in the fall, in North America in September-October 2011 and in Asia in early 2012.
DESIGN A BIT MORE MASCULINE: the result of the new Beetle style concretized in a more vertical windshield , the cockpit is back to the hood which is now longer and shows a striking spoiler. The aesthetic impact of the new model does not differ much from previous Beetle round shapes but the size increased sharply: length 4,278 mm (+ 152 mm), width 1,808 mm (+84 mm), height 1,478 mm (- 12 mm) , 2537 mm wheelbase and also increases the trunk (310 liters instead of 209).
CAR TRIM AND ENGINES: European fans of this “ever green” icon must wait for the launch in October-November 2011 and will benefit from a wider range of engines and an improved cockpit, in fact, the new Beetle will come with three different packs: Beetle, Design and Sport. The modern interior recall, however, a retro style, like the circular instruments on the dashboard and the storage compartment, but the new Beetle promises comfort and amenities such as keyless access system, integrated navigation, USB and Aux port for digital gadgets, panoramic top, Bluetooth connectivity and the exclusive Fender audio system developed in collaboration with Panasonic and designed for Rock lovers who can order a 400-watt woofer. Available on request additional instruments (oil temperature indicator, chronometer and boost pressure indicator) which are placed upper the infotainment system. The petrol units are three: the 1.2 TSI 105 hp, the 1.4 TSI 160 hp and 2.0 TSI 200 hp, while diesel engines are two: 1.6 TDI 105 hp and 2.0 TDI 140 hp. All engines can have the DSG dual-clutch gearbox and are available 12 colors for the body.
