Here are the official images of the V60 Plug-in Hybrid that was on stage at latest Geneva Motor Show, the model is ready for the automotive market in 2012.
WHAT CHANGED: the V60 Plug-in Hybrid is different from standard version, not just by mechanics, in fact on the car stands for the white body color, the light wheels with low-friction tires provided by Pirelli. As for the interior, stands out the instrument cluster that provides information on consumption, the level of remaining battery power and range, the coatings are also leather.
ENGINES: thanks to the coupling between the diesel D5 2.4-liter, 215 hp and 440 Nm and an electric motor, 70 hp and 200 Nm with lithium-ion batteries by 12 Kwh, the V60 emits less than 50 g/km. The battery charging time depend on the type of power: 7.5 hours with 6 A, 4.5 hours with 10A and 3 hours with 16 A, this only with home connection type 230 V. V60 Plug-in Hybrid comes with different drive selection as Pure electric mode which allows a range of about 50 km, but the Hybrid allows emissions of 49 g/km and a consumption of 1.9 l/100 km, with a range of 1200 km, while the Power mode fully exploits the engines power and on start reaches the 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.
SAFETY: To cut effects in a collision event, the battery is encapsulated and the battery pack is well protected and separated from the driver and the cockpit. Moreover, in case of collision, if the electricity should come in the wrong direction, a safety system switches off and isolate the battery. Another detail to be mentioned is the new braking system, now more efficient with the DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control), Collision Warning and City Safety, available also on standard Volvo V60.
