VOLVO V60 PLUG-IN HYBRID on market in 2012

Volvo is preparing to announce a plug-in hybrid version of the V60 ,the sporty wagon, during the Geneva Motor Show (3-13 March). The model, as ensures the chinese property, is ready to go into production with this type of engine – created as cooperation with the Swedish energy company Vattenfall supplies – has CO2 emissions below 50 g / km and fuel consumption of 1.9 l/100 km.

Under the hood is a 2.4-liter turbodiesel, 215 hp and 440 Nm, which is responsible for front-wheel drive, while the rear axle is pushed with a 70 hp electric motor powered by lithium-ion batteries 12 kWh. The new model has  a six-speed automatic transmission and is capable to get 50 km in electric mode only.

Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Cars has left a comment, “This hybrid car’s second generation is the perfect choice for those not willing to compromise and want a car with very low CO2 emissions without sacrificing the driving pleasure “.

The hybrid model is expected to become a standard reality by 2012
