BMW M3 CRT a lightweight sedan with Carbon Racing Technology

At the BMW M Fest, an event organized by the German brand in conjunction with the endurance race of the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, they have unveiled the BMW M3 CRT (Carbon Racing Technology). This model is an M3 sedan special edition with only 67 units, built using the engine of the M3 GTS coupe with changes that affect the weight reduction by lightweight technical materials for specific parts as hood, roof, seats, rear spoiler and a new titanium exhaust system. The result is that engineers have achieved the weight loss of 45 kg compared to the normal sedan, reaching the total weight of 1580 kg, thanks to new technology CFRP, already used for electric vehicles.

The M3 CRT stands out the Polar Silver Metallic Frozen livery with some details in red Melbourne, the black kidney grille and black air vents with a small red frame, which also features some aerodynamic flaps of this car. The interior shows fine red leather upholstery, while the rear seats have been designed to offer the greatest comfort. The design of the new M3 is completed by 19-inch alloy wheels (with 245/35 front tires and 265/30 rear) already used by the M3 GTS.

The BMW M3 CRT thanks to the 450 horsepower  of its V8 4.4-liter, the power/weight ratio of 3.5 kg per hp and the dedicated titanium exhaust system, gets to a top speed of 290 km/h and starts from 0 to 100 Km/h in 4.4 seconds. Prices in Germany start at € 130,000.
